Task 5b

The pineowlapple controls the fruit flies as it is the predator towards it and makes a large portion of its diet.
It can disguise itself with pineapples, and when the fruit flies come to eat the pineapples, it springs out and kills the fly.

Task 5a

We have decided to introduce the PineOwlApple into the grammar ecosystem to control the amount of fruit flies in the area to stop their annoyance around the school.

Task 4

Here is a food web of the average rain-forest (note this is not all the animals in a rain-forest)
Note that the PineOwlApple is a second, third and fourth order consumer.

Task 3C

The pineowlapple could very well have mutualism with pineapples, it protects them from bugs and pests while the pineapple provides as a home and attraction for food.

Task 3B

The pineowlapple has adapted to camouflage as a pineapple which allows it to live in farming areas, hiding in the crops. The pineowlapple has also adapted to live in tropical areas like rain forests, by having packed feathers to keep dry.

Task 3A

The Pineowlapple likes hot, wet areas like rainforests. Some other creatures that might live around here are: lizards, earthworms, sparrows, squirrels, spiders, pythons, grass and ferns. They have learnt that rainforests tend to be protected so this is where you tend to find them. You can also find them hiding in pineapple plantations due to their camouflage.
This is a map of Australia with where they tend live.

6. Predator or prey?

The pineowlapple is a predator, as it is a carnivore, meaning it must eat meat, and it also has 3D vision with 2 eyes on the front of its head, allowing its eyes to lock in on it's prey.

5. Where does it spend most of it's time?

This animal spends most of it's time in trees near waterfalls and in pineapple plantations. This animal is arboreal.

4. Appendages

The pineowlapple has wings and can fly, although it is also capable of standing upright on 2 legs, it has tail feathers but no other limbs.

3. Body Covering

The outside covering of the pineowlapple is actually feathers, while it still looks like the outside flesh of a pineapple, it is actually feathers, designed and shaped so that they can look precisely like a pineapple!

2. What supports it's body?

This creature has an endoskeleton however because of it's powerful muscles it can strengthen the skin to feel like a pineapple.

1: What does it eat?

We have discovered that this Pineowlapple is a carnivore, it eats meat with its beak. Just like other owls. It uses its talons to catch its prey, lands, and devours its prey.

Is it a fruit?

We have - after careful examination - found that our "Pineowlapple" is not in any way related to a pineapple, it just has an extreme camouflage ability to blend in with fruits. We have recently got reports of them being found in pineapple plantations, hiding and were almost cut up in the process!

New Creature???

Ryan McCarthy and I believe that we have just found a new creature while bush walking in the Buderim forest park. So far we have no idea what it is and if it has been found before. We've brought it back to the lab and we'll update you when we know more about it.
